UK–India trade: get your business export-ready

The Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade said on 12 October that a UK mission to Delhi and Mumbai involved more than 100 businesses and announced over £1 billion in new deals. It also reported £48 billion of total UK–India trade in the 12 months to March 2026. Those are government figures about the mission and wider relationship, not a promise that every small firm can export profitably.

The announcement said earlier pilots found and fixed more than 1,000 potential vulnerabilities in government systems. It does not mean a new reporting duty already applies to every small business.

UK–EU trade talks: keep your supply chain stitched together

The British Chambers of Commerce responded on 12 October to the announcement of a UK–EU leaders’ summit date. It called for lower trading costs on food and plant products, links between emissions-trading systems, progress on youth opportunities and clarity over “Made in Europe” proposals. These are BCC priorities for negotiations, not agreed policy changes or immediate reductions in costs.
